Welcome to the Sotto Voce Institute LLC

The Sotto Voce Institute LLC was aptly named, as the Italian phrase sotto voce means "soft voice". The Sotto Voce Institute LLC is where a soft voice inspires learning!

The instructors at Sotto Voce Institute LLC teach students classically. Students will learn to read music, understand music theory and experience a wide variety of musical genres. They also guide students' practice and performance through demonstration and instruction.

Students will work toward mastery of solo pieces to perform at optional recitals in the winter and spring.

Schedule and Tuition

All private lessons are taught one-on-one to ensure proper technique and skills are being learned by the student.

Individual lessons are 30-60 minutes in length and can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Weekly lessons are encouraged to strengthen student motivation to practice and to see progress in a timely fashion.

Private lessons are scheduled Monday-Friday and every other Saturday during the school year (Sept-May). Summer lessons are scheduled Monday-Thursday (June-August).

Lessons are $28 per half hour lesson and $56 per hour lesson. Tuition is charged on a monthly basis and is due on the first lesson of the month, for the entire month. Payments can be made by cash or check. Please make checks payable to: Sotto Voce Institute LLC. Tuition can also be made electronically through Cash App. Ask your instructor for more details. A monthly email will be sent to notify students of their monthly tuition & any books fees. *NOTE: Lesson fees that are not paid by the second lesson of the month will occur a 10% late fee.

Missed or Cancelled Lessons

If a student should need to miss a scheduled lesson, due to illness or conflict, notification should be given to the instructor prior to the scheduled lesson time via telephone: 651-313-5872 (voicemail only, no texts) or email: sottovoceinstitute@gmail.com

As long as notice is received in advance, the instructor will provide a make-up lesson at a different time, financial credit will not be given for missed or cancelled lessons.

If notice is not received prior to the missed lesson, the student will be held responsible for full payment of the lesson and no make-up lesson will be offered by the instructor.

Parking

The Sotto Voce Institute LLC provides three 30-minute parking stalls for students. It is alright to park in these stalls, even if you have an hour lesson.

Withdrawal

If a student should wish to discontinue with lessons prior to June 1, 2020, a written 30-day notice for lesson withdrawal needs to be given to the instructor. Lessons will continue through those 30 days with regular payment, whether the student attends the lessons or not. This notice allows the instructor time to find a replacement.

Students can also choose to discontinue without notice at the end of the school year session (May 31) or summer session (August 30).

Parental Involvement

Parents are wonderful supporters of their child's learning and should motivate them to practice and encourage their child to play or sing for them often. Help your child, along with their teacher, to set a routine time to practice each week. Beginning students should aim for 4-5 days a week for about 15 minutes. More advanced students should aim for 5 days a week for about 30 minutes.
